St Patrick Shamrocks cross country state championship meet recap
St Patrick Shamrocks cross country team had one girl runner and the entire boys team qualify for the state championship meet. This was the first time since the early 1960's (60+ years) that a St Patrick boys team qualified for States. At the State cross country meet Saturday 11/1/25 at Michigan International Speedway, featuring only the best cross country runners in the state Marian Davlin finished in 131st place moving up 17 places from her ranking with a time of 22:25.

Shamrocks start out playoffs with a bang
The Portland St. Patrick Sha mrocks hosted the Marion Eagles for the first round of the 2025 playoffs. The Shamrocks are entering the playoffs as the #1 seed, and Marion is coming in as the #14 seed, and it showed. Michael William Gross, age 86, of Eagle, passed away on Friday, October 24, 2025. He was born on July 20, 1939 the son of Frank and Elsie (Noffsinger) Gross. Mike was a member of St. Patrick Church. Josephine Clara (Theis) Fox was born on March 9, 1932, to Joseph and Catherine (Schmitt) Theis in Westphalia, and died at age 93 in Portland on October 23, 2025. Josephine married James O. Fox on June 17, 1957. She was a devoted Catholic, a longtime member of St. Patrick Catholic Church, and prayed the rosary daily. Lady Raiders Wrap Up Cross Country Season at MHSAA Regionals
The Lady Raiders closed out their cross-country season at the MHSAA Regional meet hosted by Grand Rapids South Christian. Despite brisk 35-degree temperatures and a very wet course, the sun made a welcome appearance as the girls took on their final race of the year.
