After a disappointing first game loss against Montabella, the Portland St. Patrick Shamrock football team hosted the Morrice Orioles on Saturday, September 12th. Usually a hard-fought rivalry game, the Shamrocks worked hard to bounce back, and hammered Morrice 58-12.

In the first quarter, it was all St. Patrick, withe Caleb Pline capping the opening drive, pounding it in from 2 yards, and Emmet Fandel running in the two-point conversion. Emmet Fandel struck again, breaking loose for a 56-yard rushing td, and again ran in the two-point conversion. Emmet connected with Tyler Thelen for a 36-yard pass, and Sam Mustapha ran in the two-point conversion to make the score 24-0 after one quarter of play.

In the second quarter, the Shamrocks continued their dominance, with Aiden Fandel taking a punt return home from 62 yards, and Tyler Thelen making the extra point kick. On the next series, Aiden Fandel again punched his ticket, scampering for a 22-yard run, followed by a Tyler Thelen Kick. Isaiah Rockey followed that up with a 71-yard kickoff return touchdown, followed by another successful Tyler Thelen Kick. The half was complete when Logan Howe sprinted for a 30-yard touchdown run, and Tyler Thelen again punched it through the uprights. This left the score 52-6 at halftime.

After the half, the clock was running, and St. Patrick did not score in the third quarter, but Morrice did, making it 52-12 after three quarters.

In the final quarter, Nolan Schafer broke loose on a 37-yard touchdown, and Tyler Thelen missed the Extra Point to make the final 58-12.

Offensive leaders for the Shamrocks were Emmet Fandel who carried it 3 times for 63 yards and 1 touchdown, and went 1 for 2 with a 36-yard touchdown. Nolan Schafer was the second running back at 37 yards.

Defensively, the Shamrocks were led by Isaiah Rockey who had 8 tackles and 1 tackle for loss (TFL). Shane Smith had 3 tackles 1 sack and 2 TFL. 15 Shamrocks recorded at least a tackle in this game.

The Shamrocks travel to Breckenridge for a big matchup on Thursday, September 17th at 7 pm.
