Management from Sunset Ridge emailed the Portland Beacon on Saturday, March 14 th at 8:48 AM with the following communication. Sunset Ridge is reporting approximately a 10 gallons of mixed sewer and/water discharged under a home here. We quickly resolved the issue and clean up crews are finishing this morning. On Wednesday, March 11 th , the St. Patrick's Varsity Girls basketball team traveled to Fowler for the Regional Final matchup against Muskegon Catholic Central. The Shamrocks won, 53-40, over the Crusaders. The lady Shamrocks came out strong with a run by Macie Leonard and then continued to convert possessions offensively. The Crusaders made a second quarter run with outside shots, and at halftime the Shamrocks made adjustments defensively, to allow for more perimeter cover

Portland Township recycling will take place on Saturday, March 28 th and Sunday, March 29 th (always the 4th Saturday) from 9:00 am - 5:00 pm or until the bins are full. Please break down all cardboard boxes. Recycling is located at 1 Industrial Drive, next to Municipal Supply, and is open only to Portland Township residents.

The Portland Boys Bowling team competed in the MHSAA Team Tournament to cap off their season. The boys battled nerves, as it was the first State Finals appearance for every member of the team. Despite the pressure, they competed hard and finished in 14th place overall. The team was led by Tanner Brownell and Wyatt Spear, who each rolled a strong 371 two-game series. The St. Patrick's Varsity Girls basketball team traveled to Fowler, for the Semi-Regional matchup against Climax- Scotts. The Shamrocks won, 41-20, over the Panthers. The team played great defense, closing out on shooters and taking care of penetration in the lane. The Shamrocks rebounded the ball and converted quality possessions using poise offensively. Last Saturday we held our annual Portland Festival of Tables. This event is a special time where we start by viewing specially decorated Tables and then enjoy a catered meal from Taste of Heaven Catering. Our speaker for this event was Brenda Ross, a certified Functional Nutrition Coach. Proceeds from this event will benefit PAMA’s (Portland Area Ministerial Association) Compassion which helps families and individuals in the Portland School District who are in crisis.
