Thomas “Tom” Werner, 81, of Monticello, passed away on Sunday, June 21, 2026 in Monticello.
He was born on July 16, 1944 in Lyons, MI to Fredrick E. and Virginia (Bushong) Werner. On August 24, 1963 he married Carol Green in Portland MI. She survives.
He was a graduate of Portland, MI. He worked at Lindell Drop Forge in Lansing, MI before moving to Monticello in 1992 to work for Omni Forge in Remington from which he retired in 2007. Tom was the union president of Local #724 at Lindell Drop Forge out of Lansing, MI for many years. He was an avid hunter and golfer. He belonged to the National Wild Turkey Federation and was a member of Pine View Golf Club. He enjoyed sitting on his deck watching the activity on Lake Shafer. He especially enjoyed his winters in Florida with his wife Carol and traveling to Michigan and Tennessee to see his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren as he cherished his family and time spent with them.
In addition to his wife, Carol of Monticello, he is survived by daughter Melissa Rinehart of Spring Hill, TN; son Thomas J Werner of Saranac MI; sister Betty Bissell of MI; brother Jim (Darlene) Werner of MI; grandchildren J.T. (Gabby) Rinehart, Ryan Rinehart (fiancée Kaylie); great grandchildren Hudson, Logan and Rowan Rinehart of TN; father-in-law Harold Green. of MI.
He was preceded in death by brothers Bruce and Fred Werner; son-in-law, Scott Rinehart.
Private family services will be at Springer-Voorhis-Draper Funeral Home of Monticello.
