Obituary for Leslie Albert Fedewa


Leslie Albert Fedewa, 94, died peacefully on June 9, 2018. Born on August 28, 1923, he was a lifelong resident of Portland, MI. He married Helen Lucile Stump on May 25, 1950 which lasted 48 years until her death in 2002.

Leslie loved life and enjoyed being with his family and friends. He was always a happy person throughout life bringing levity to share with all. He enjoyed playing the piano, watching sports and going to the casino.

Leslie participated in military service from Dec. 14, 1942 through Dec. 5, 1945 and served as Cpl. in Squadron B 463rd U.S. Army Air Force Base Unit. He was awarded the European, African & Middle East Ribbon (3) Bronze Stars for his deployment to Ascension Island supporting the battles of Normandy, Northern France and Central Europe. He then worked at Lansing Atlas Drop Forge for 40 years until retirement.

Leslie is survived by his children, Dennis Raymond Fedewa, Penney Ann Fedewa; his granddaughters, Leslie Dubois and Steffanie Dubois; and his sisters, Mildred Denny and Janette Eklin. He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen; parents, Joseph W. Fedewa and Christine Hoppes; brothers, Oliver, Raymond, Thomas, Fredrick (Fritz); and sisters, Marie Spitzley and Lucile Bonin.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, June 14, 2018 from 4-7 p.m. at the Lehman Funeral Home, 210 E. Bridge Street, Portland.

His remains will be laid to rest alongside his wife Helen in Portland Cemetery on Friday, June 15, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Dr. Marilyn V. Danielson presiding. Military Honors will be provided by the Portland V.F.W. Post #4090. Arrangements are entrusted to Lehman Funeral Homes. Online condolences may be made at www.lehmanfuneralhomes.com.
