Disney’s The Little Mermaid opens Thursday, March 7!

Join PHS Drama “Under the Sea” with the beloved classic tale of The Little Mermaid!

Featuring Josephine Polasek as Ariel and Cooper Wittenbach as Prince Eric, Eddy Holcomb as Sebastian and Lyndsey Camp as Ursula, entertainment abounds in this lively production!

In addition to PHS Drama students, several collaborations took place at PHS for Disney’s The Little Mermaid - including the cheer team to guide the cast on safe practices for lifts and chorography, Portland Middle School added to the cast and crew, and the robotics team for some of the mechanical aspects of props.  Thanks in part to generous sponsors - Off and Running Painting, HomeWorks Connect, Frewen Realty and The Wagon Wheel - Detroit Flyhouse Circus conducted a partner acrobatics workshop, and as this production incorporates many puppets, puppeteering workshops were held as well.

The PHS Drama production is directed by Chandra Polasek, with Jessica Cymbal as Vocal Music Director, Chad Fuller as Technical Director, Mary Green as Choreographer, and Sophia Leik as Stage Manager. Production dates are Thursday March 7, Friday March 8, and Saturday March 9 at 7pm, with a matinee on Sunday March 10 at 2pm. Performances will be held in the PHS Auditorium, 1100 Ionia Rd, Portland. Tickets can be purchased online at https://portlandhs.seatyourself.biz/ or at the door for $7 adults and $5 students/seniors.

Disney’s The Little Mermaid is based on the Hans Christian Andersen story and the Disney film produced by Howard Ashman & John Musker and written & directed by John Musker & Ron Clements. Disney’s The Little Mermaid is presented through special arrangement with Music Theater International (MTI).
