Shamrocks push through the Eagles

The Portland St. Patrick Shamrocks travelled all the way to Bellaire for a football matchup with the Eagles. Bellaire was pretty beat up, nursing some injuries, and the Shamrocks were just too much, winning the game 44-6.
In the first quarter, Hudson King cut back and scampered for a 57-yard touchdown on the second play from scrimmage. Jerryd Scheurer then followed it up, returning the next punt for a 36-yard touchdown. Charlie Thelen caught a 39-yard pass from Jerryd Scheurer and Brody Beckhold went 2-3 on the extra points, making the score 20-0 after one quarter.
The second quarter began with Tyler Thelen catching a 37-yard touchdown from Jerryd Scheurer and a good Brody Beckhold kick. At that point, the Freshmen and Sophomores began play for the Shamrocks, and they competed well. Shane Smith caught a 16-yard touchdown pass from Emmet Fandel, and Brody Beckhold booted it through the uprights, making the score 34-0 at halftime.
On the opening drive of the third, Hudson King again broke loose for a 45-yard touchdown run, and Brody Beckhold made the extra point. The Shamrocks completed their scoring on a 33-yard field goal from Beckhold making the score 44-0 after three quarters.
In the fourth quarter, the Eagles struck back finally, throwing a long pass and making the score 44-6.
Offensive leaders for the Shamrocks were Jerryd Scheurer who went 8-8 for 158 yards and 2 touchdowns, and Hudson King who had 2 carries for 102 yards and 2 touchdowns. Charlie Thelen had 3 receptions for 58 yards and a touchdown.
Defensive leaders for the Shamrocks were James Miller with 7 tackles and 1 tackle for loss (TFL), Augustus Teachworth with 7 tackles 1 sack and 1 TFL, Isaiah Rockey had 7 tackles and Emmet Fandel had 6 tackles and 1 TFL.
The Shamrocks travel to Wyoming Lee on Friday, September 10th.
