Shamrocks overpower the Byron Eagles

On Friday September 12th, the Portland St. Patrick Shamrocks travelled to Byron for a Football matchup with the Byron Eagles. The Shamrocks were coming off a huge win against Morrice last week, but the Shamrocks took the field ready to play, and outscored the Eagles 62-22 to take the win.
In the first quarter, Hudson King started off a flurry of Shamrock scores with a 7 yard rush, followed by a Brody Beckhold kick. Caleb Pline followed that up with a 12 yard pass from Jerryd Scheurer on the next series. Jerryd Scheurer capped a long drive on the next series with a 3 yard run, followed by a Brody Beckhold kick. Brady Leonard broke loose for a 49 yard touchdown on the next series, and Brody Beckhold again punched it through the uprights. Jerryd Scheurer finished off the quarter with a 40 yard rush, and Brody Beckhold hit the extra point again, making the score 34-0 after one quarter of football.
In the second quarter, a lone Shamrock touchdown on a 13 yard rush from Jerryd Scheurer was followed by another Brody Beckhold kick, making the score 41-0 at halftime.
After the half, the Shamrock offense struck again, on a Hudson King 47 yard touchdown rush, followed by a Brody Beckhold kick. This left the score 48-0 after three quarters of football.
The fourth quarter saw the Byron Eagles finally strike, scoring twice, before Emmet Fandel broke free for a 40 yard run, followed by a Brody Beckhold kick. The Eagles scored again with about 3 minutes left, and the Shamrocks followed that up with a touchdown pass from Isaiah Rockey to Chase Bengal to make the final score 62-22
Offensive leaders for St. Patrick were Hudson King withe 9 rushes for 129 yards and 2 touchdowns, Brady Leonard who had 7 carries for 102 yard and 1 touchdown and 1 reception for 36 yards, and Jerryd Scheurer who had 5 rushes for 64 yards and 3 touchdowns and was 4 of 7 passing for 65 yards and a touchdown.
Defensive leaders for the Shamrocks were Isaiah Rockey who had 5 tackles, Brady Leonard had 5 tackles, Aiden Fandel who had 5 tackles, and Ben White with 5 tackles.
The Shamrocks host Fulton next Saturday, September 20th at home, at 7 pm.
