Shamrocks overpower Lansing Christian
On Monday, March 15th the Portland St. Patrick Shamrocks hosted the Lansing Christian Pilgrims for a boys basketball match. Both teams entered with similar records, with Lansing Christian holding a 3-10 record, and St. Patrick holding a 2-6 record. The Shamrocks played good solid basketball and won by a comfortable margin, winning 41-29.
In the first quarter, both team played solid defense and kept the scores low, with the Shamrocks gaining a 8-6 advantage for the quarter. Connor Cross led the Shamrocks with 4 points, and Brice and Shane Cook both chipped in 2 a piece.
In the second quarter, the Shamrocks continued to play great defense, but they opened up their scoring a bit, winning the quarter 12-8 and taking a 20-14 halftime lead. Shane Cook put in 5 points to lead the Shamrocks.
After the half, the Pilgrims fixed some issues and won the quarter 8-7. Connor Cross had 4 points, and Evan Schrauben put in a 3. This left the Shamrocks leading 27-22 going into the fourth quarter.
In the final quarter the Shamrocks pulled ahead and won the quarter 14-7. Connor Cross led wiht 6 points and five different Shamrock players scored.
Game leaders were Connor Cross who had 16 points 5 rebounds 5 steals and 5 blocks, Shane Cook with 9 points 6 rebounds and 2 steals, Evan Schrauben had 9 points, and Brice Cook had 4 points 6 rebounds and 2 steals.
The Shamrocks play at Fowler on Wednesday, March 17th.
