On Friday, September 5th the Portland St. Patrick Shamrocks travelled to Morrice for a much anticipated rematch with the Morrice Orioles. After getting their hopes dashed by Morrice in the playoffs last fall, the Shamrocks had looked forward to this for the past year. Morrice also came to play, and the two teams pounded each other for four quarters of fantastic football, with the Shamrocks coming out ahead, winning the game 14-7.

In the first quarter, both teams struggled to move the ball effectively, and the score remained 0-0 after one quarter.

In the second quarter, Morrice was able to put together a drive, and that left the score 0-7 at halftime, with Morrice taking the lead.

The third quarter saw more defensive dominance, with both teams strangling the other team, leaving the score 0-7 after three quarters.

In the fourth quarter, the Shamrock conditioning and depth kicked in, with the Shamrocks putting together a fantastic defensive effort. On fourth and short, the Shamrock defense smothered the Orioles in the middle. This led to a forced fumble, and Charlie Thelen snatched up the ball and rumbled 64 yards for a touchdown. The Shamrocks pounded in the 2 point conversion on a Brady Leonard sneak, and that left the score 8-7 with the Shamrocks leading. More defensive from the Shamrocks kept the game under St. Patrick control, and the Shamrocks then pounded the ball down the field and Brady Leonard again broke loose and sprinted up the sidelines for a 24 yard touchdown. The extra point hit the uprights, leaving the score 14-7. A strong defensive stop, capped by an interception by Aiden Mosser, and the Shamrocks took the win.

Offensive leader for the Shamrocks was Brady Leonard and the offensive line putting on a clinic, finishing with 18 rushes for 96 yards and 1 touchdown.

Defensive leaders for St Patrick were myriad, with an exceptional team defensive effort. Augustus Teachworth had 13 tackles, Ben White had 8 tackles 1 sack and 1 tackle for loss (TFL). Aiden Mosser had 10 tackles, and Caleb Pline had 4 tackles 1 sack and 2 TFL's. Brady Leonard had 7 tackles and Mason Simon had 6 tackles and 1 TFL.

The Shamrocks travel to Byron on Friday, September 12th for their next game.
