Shamrocks dominate Byron
The winless Byron Eagles travelled to Portland for a football game with the Shamrocks. It didn't take long for the mismatch to be apparent, and St. Patrick ran away with it winning the game 51-12.
In the first quarter, the Shamrocks sputtered for a few plays before Brady Leonard punched his ticket with an 18 yard rushing touchdown. The Shamrock defense stifled the Eagles on the next series, before forcing the Eagles to snap the ball out of the back of the end zone for a safety. The Shamrock defense held the Eagles to negative yardage in the first quarter, and scored a bunch, as Brady Leonard scored again from 35 yards, Brayden Simons from 14 yards, and Augustus Teachworth caught a 20 yard touchdown pass from Brady Leonard. Brody Beckhold made all four extra point kicks, and the St. Patrick took a 30-0 lead after one quarter of play.
In the second quarter, St. Patrick put in another score when Mason Simon rushed in from 9 yards out. The Eagles struck back, before Brady Leonard broke loose for a 59 yard rushing touchdown. Two more made kicks from Brody Beckhold made the score 44-6 at halftime.
In the third quarter, both teams scored. St. Patrick senior Grant Pline scored on a full back dive, and Brody again made the kick, leaving the final score 51-12.
Defensive leaders for the Shamrocks were Ben White with 9 tackles. Brayden Simon had 4 tackles 1 sack, and 2 tackles for loss (TFL).
Offensive leaders for St. Patrick were Brady Leonard who rushed 8 times for 132 yards and 3 touchdowns and was 8 for 15 for 83 yards and a touchdown in the air. Hudson King had 3 carries for 61 yards also. Augustus Teachworth had 3 receptions for 37 yards and a touchdown, and Charlie Thelen had 2 catches for 49 yards.
The Shamrocks travel to Byron this Friday for their last regular season game.
