Shamrock Girls advance to State Semi-Finals

On Wednesday, March 11th, the St. Patrick's Varsity Girls basketball team traveled to Fowler for the Regional Final matchup against Muskegon Catholic Central. The Shamrocks won, 53-40, over the Crusaders.
The lady Shamrocks came out strong with a run by Macie Leonard and then continued to convert possessions offensively. The Crusaders made a second quarter run with outside shots, and at halftime the Shamrocks made adjustments defensively, to allow for more perimeter coverage and contain their outside shooting. The Shamrocks locked in and used the clock strategically and took the win. Gracelyn Rockey scored 26 points and had 5 rebounds, Macie Leonard and Lily Sandborn each added 10 points, Macie Smith scored 7 points, and Marian Davlin brought in 5 rebounds for the Shamrock win. Shout out to the SP fans that traveled to cheer on the ladies this evening! Your energy is contagious!
On Tuesday, March 17th, the Shamrocks basketball team traveled to Mason for the Quarterfinal matchup against Concord. The matchup came with a history when the two teams collided in Regionals last year, where the Yellow Jackets took the Shamrocks out of tournament. This year the matchup came on the Patronal Feast Day of the St. Patrick Catholic School and the Shamrocks were determined to come out on top and did just that with a 29-21 victory, over the Yellow Jackets. By executing a solid plan the lady Shamrocks displayed poise and patience in their half court defense and used spacing and balanced scoring on offense to convert points. The Yellow Jackets held it close at halftime, and then the Shamrocks came out in the third quarter and capitalized on adjustments. Macie Smith led the team with 10 points and 3 rebounds, Gracelyn Rockey scored 8 points and had 5 rebounds, Macie Leonard scored 5 points, Lily Sandborn had 4 points, and Marian Davlin had 2 points and brought in 8 rebounds for the Shamrock win. Shout out to the SP fans that traveled to cheer on the ladies this evening! Your energy is contagious!

The Lady Shamrocks move on to the State Semi-Finals Thursday, March 18th vs. Onekema at 7:30pm at the Breslin Center.
Onekema enters the games with a 19-7 record and defeated Frankfort 38-33 in their Quarterfinal contest.
