Portland Trap Team Finishes Remarkable Season
The PHS Trap team went to the Michigan State Trap Shoot on June 19th and the team took 14th out of 47 teams that participated. Portland had 30 students attend. Their most ever!
The team just finished up the National Shoot and were very happy with its shooters. Each student has to qualify for the National shoot and are invited by the League to participate. The Portland group was able to have two teams participate and one team qualified for the finals. They ended up finishing in 32nd place out of 160 teams that participated. This is the first time Portland has had a team move on to the finals!
The shooters on the team in the finals were: Levi Carter, Logan Rogers, Aiden Hoppes, Dakota Hewitt and Cade Watts.
The team had 14 individual shooters that qualified for Nationals:
Jack McBride and Walker Rogers made it to the final round and ended up shooting a 189/200 and a 185/200 respectively. Both shot their person best in competition! There were 1684 Individual shooters and Jack ended in 224th place and Walker in 307th place. The competition is fierce!
