Portland Tennis Defeats Williamston 6-2

Portland Girls Varsity tennis hosted Williamston on Monday and played a tough, long match ending in a 6-2 victory. This was definitely an equal match up between the two teams with three of the flights going three sets. Adriana Krieger at 3 singles took her third set to a tiebreaker. Never giving up, Adriana pulled off the win with a 7-3 third set tiebreak score. Dropping their first set with a 4-7 tiebreaker score, 3 doubles, Mya Collins and Xanthe Cross, proved their efforts would not be outdone by taking their next two sets 6-4, 6-3.

Though they didn't play three sets, several other flights also had close matches. Number 2 singles, Alyssa Jack, played close competition with a first set score of 7-5. She didn't let the close first set bring her down, as she fought hard for a 6-2 second set to secure the win. Meanwhile, the 2 doubles combo of Kara Kraczon and Bella Virk posted similar results. Winning their first set in a 7-3 tiebreaker, they also garnered an impressive second set score of 6-1 to earn their win.
