Portland Softball 1-2 after facing Holt and DeWitt

Before Spring Break, the Portland Raider Softball team hosted the Holt Rams to kick off the 2026 season on Wednesday, March 25^th.

Game 1: Holt 16, Portland 8

An eight run seventh inning for the Rams helped Holt defeat Portland in the first game of the night.

The Raiders combined for 11 hits in the game, lead by Rylee Miller who went three for four with a double.  Molli Miilu added two hits.  Brynn Nelson, Veda Smith, and Willa Almy each had doubles in the game for Portland, and Lilly Thelen had a triple. 

Bella Spitzley struck out three over seven innings in the loss on the mound.

Game 2: Portland 13, Holt 11

The second game of the night was ended early due to darkness and did not count as a complete game, but the Raiders led 13-11 at the time.

The Raiders got all 13 of their runs in the first inning.  Spitzley (triple), Smith, and Carley Bower (double) each had two hits in the game.  Almy added a double.

Miilu had the pitching duties in the game and struck out one in three innings.

The Raiders were scheduled to face Lansing Catholic on Tuesday, March 31^st, but that game was postponed due to weather.  A make up date for this CAAC White match up has not been announced yet.

On Tuesday, Apri/14^th the Raiders traveled to DeWitt.

Game 1: DeWitt 9, Portland 3

Thelen led the Portland offense going four for four at the plate with two doubles.  Spitzley added two hits with a double. 

Spitzley went four innings on the mound striking out two.  Miilu pitched the final three innings striking out three.

Game 2: Portland 5, DeWitt 1

The Raiders tallied 11 hits in game two while holding DeWitt to four hits.

Miller and Thelen each had three hits.  Spitzley and Bower (double) each had two hits. 

Miilu got the win in the circle pitching all seven innings and striking out four.
