Portland High School senior Ethan Patrick will be taking his talents to Alma College next fall. Patrick will be joining Alma’s football and track programs.
Patrick played varsity football at Portland for three seasons, and was on the track team for two seasons.
On the football field he was twice named Academic All-Conference, two-time All-Conference, MHSFCA All Region, MHSFCA All State, Associated Press All State First Team defensive back.
During his senior year he was named team captain, Team MVP, Lansing Area Dream Team at defensive back, Aug 30-Sep 4th News 6 Player of the Week, Portland November Student Athlete of the Month.
Patrick told the Beacon, “The reason I chose to go to Alma College is because the atmosphere is a lot like Portland’s. They always have the community supporting them and everyone at the college cares about my success on and off the field. They showed me that with the many visits I took. I know a lot of people going to Alma and I have already made a lot of friends too.”
The Alma College Scots compete at the NCAA III level and are members of the Michigan Collegiate Athletic Association.
Patrick added, “I would like to say thank you to everyone who has helped me get to where I am today. Thank you to my friends and coaches from Saranac introducing me to the sport. Thank you to all my friends from Portland that have pushed me every day and made the past few years some to remember. To the entire Portland football coaching staff, thank you for pushing me and helping me obtain my childhood dream, and thank you to the Portland Community for the endless support! I can't wait to continue my athletic careers in football and track at Alma College, while also getting a great education!”
