Portland High School boy’s Varsity soccer team wrapped up its season after falling in the district semifinals to Northpointe Christian. Their record of 3 wins, 8 losses, and 1 tie (2-5 mark in the CAAC White conference), does not accurately show the level of success this season. Despite the tough schedule, the team’s determination was evident, with six of their eight losses decided by just two goals or fewer. The team’s performance was highlighted by an overtime win over Lakewood in the district quarter finals, winning 2-1 after 100 minutes of soccer.
This year’s team was led by seven seniors, including its top two goal scorers and four-year varsity starting goalkeeper Mason Vallier, who contributed one shutout and a season-high 24 saves in an exciting last minute 3-3 tie with Jackson Christian.

Outside of the team’s honorees and statistical leaders, all sixteen players contributed to the team’s success during the fall season. With the large graduating class, the underclassmen gained valuable experience that they will draw on next season as they are called on to lead the team and a talented group of incoming freshmen in 2026.
