On Sunday, the Portland teams traveled to Battle Creek to compete in the Battle of the Bakers tournament.
The girls team was able to qualify for match place by finishing 7th in qualifying. We lost the first game of the best of 3 series badly to Grass Lake. In game 2, the girls stepped up and won forcing a decisive game 3. It all came down to the last frame and unfortunately, our spare shot missed by millimeters and Grass Lake moved on.
The boys team qualified 2nd but lost in the first round of match play to finish tied for 5th.
On Tuesday, the Portland teams traveled to Ionia to take on the Bulldogs.
The Portland girls were victorious 23-7. Spotlighting the day was Savanah Sutton who threw games of 148 and 151 for a 299 two game series.
The boys varsity team made some history bowling a 1064 which is the highest team game in program history. They were led by Alec McGinnis who bowled a 240 and 416 two game series. Dre Cross had a 222 game and 410 two game series. They won the match 18 to 12 to improve to 9-0, 7-0 in division on the season.
