Portland Baseball’s Chris Trierweiler earns 200th career win

Last Saturday, Portland baseball hosted Haslett and Fowlerville as part of the Spring Sports Carnival.

 

The Raders lost to Haslett 5-4 in the first game of the day.  Portland out hit Haslett 6-4, but the Raiders just left too many runners on base.  Brody Moore led the Raider offense with two hits and one RBI. 

 

The second game of the day saw Fowlerville defeating Haslett.

 

In the final game of the day, Portland defeated Fowlerville 8-3, and earned head coach Chris Trierweiler his 200th career win.  Moore and Gavin Werner each had two hits for Portland.  Hudson Martin got the win on the mound, with relief from Ezrah Faulkner and Mason Vallier. 

 

On Tuesday the Raiders headed to Eaton Rapids for a CAAC White matchup.  Portland won the first game 8-3.  The Raiders had 13 hits in the game, led by Martin with three hits.  Gunnar Williams, Carson Simon and Carson Pung each added two hits.  Connor Fox got the win on the mound with relief from Vallier. 

 

The second game of the day ended in a 5-5 tie after seven complete innings.  Darkness prevented the teams from playing any more.  Portland tallied 10 hits in the game led by Williams with three hits.  Deacon Townsend added two hits.  Martin struck out two in three and a third innings, while Brad Meyers struck out six in three and two thirds’ innings. 

 

On Thursday, the Raiders hosted East Lansing for two games.  Portland won game one 7-3.  Portland had six hits in the game, led by Meyers with two hits and one RBI.  Max Sandborn got the win on the mound.

 

Portland won game two 11-3.  Townsend had three hits.  Moore had two hits in the game with one home run.  Williams also had two hits.  The Raiders took a group effort on the mound in the game seeing innings by Williams, Vallier, Alex Atwell, Townsend, and Faulkner.  Williams got the win. 

 

The Raiders are now 12-7-1 on the season.  Next week they host DeWitt on Monday and travel to Olivet on Tuesday.
