In honor of National Reading Month, PFCU Credit Union visited local schools throughout March to participate in the celebration of reading.

In an initiative led by Education Specialist, Maddy Shellberg, PFCU staff visited close to 40 classes at local elementary schools in Ionia, Genesee, Kent and Shiawassee counties. These engaging visits included a story time and a special visit from PFCU’s mascot, Dollar Duck. In addition to emphasizing the importance of reading, these visits also opened up the discussion of saving, a crucial piece of financial health, even at a young age.

“It’s exciting to be able to connect with students in our communities and share the joy of reading while tying in the importance of saving,” said Maddy Shellberg. “By partnering with local schools every March, we hope to share our passion for learning, reading and creativity by making it fun and engaging for the kids.”
