Obituary for Sylvia Mae (Ferris) Riker

Sylvia Mae Riker, of Ionia, passed away on January 11, 2026 at the age of 98. She was born in Ionia on December 6, 1927, the daughter of Otis and Ruby (Dickinson) Ferris. Sylvia married the love of her life, Robert Riker on August 21, 1948 and they shared 77 wonderful years of marriage together. In her free time, Sylvia enjoyed reading, quilting, crocheting, and tending to her flower beds. Most importantly, Sylvia loved her family and cherished the time she spent with them making memories. She will be missed by all who knew her.

 

Preceding Sylvia in death are her parents; infant son and daughter; son, Daniel Riker; brother, Richard (Lois) Ferris; and in-laws, Archie Falor, Tom Benson, and Janice Ferris. Surviving are her beloved husband, Robert Riker; children, Steve Riker, Jane Riker, and Dennis (Angie) Riker; brother, Raymond Ferris; sisters, Yvonne (Doug) Albright, Donna Falor, and Florence Benson; grandchildren, Kendra (Marc) Irrer, Sierra (Ryne) Musbach, Rachel (Skyler) Selby, and Mitchell Riker; great-grandchildren, Cooper and Camden Musbach, Barret Selby, and Baby Irrer on the way.

 

The Funeral Service honoring Sylvia will be officiated by Rev. Bob Beckett at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, January 15, 2026 at the Lehman Funeral Home, 210 E. Bridge Street, Portland. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral chapel. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
