Obituary for Rosalyn Regina (Trierweiler) Bengel

Rosalyn Regina Bengel, age 85, of Westphalia, passed away peacefully surrounded by her children on Thursday, August 5, 2021. Rosalyn was born in Portland, Michigan on February 28, 1936, the daughter of Victor and Mathilda (Feldpausch) Trierweiler. Rosalyn was a faithful member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church. She was a Lab Technician for the State of Michigan Department of Public Health until her retirement. In her younger years she enjoyed playing golf, softball, and bowling – she was even inducted into the Herm Huhn Bowling Hall of Fame. Rosalyn was always up for a challenge and she lived life to the fullest, whether it be spending time with her family, playing cards, watching the Detroit Tigers, or going to the casino. On February 5, 1955 she married Thomas Charles Bengel.
Preceding Rosalyn in death are her husband, Thomas C. Bengel; sons, Charles Bengel and Timothy Bengel; parents, Victor and Mathilda Trierweiler; sisters, Eileen Burgoyne and Mary Ann Trierweiler; brother, Ken Trierweiler; and in-laws, Patty Trierweiler, Jean Trierweiler, Dale Stiffler, and Barry Sillman. Left behind to cherish her legacy are her daughters, Kris (Don) Ham – Portland, Teresa (Tony) Simon – Portland, and Lori (Gerry) Schomisch – Fowler; son, Pete (Kim) Bengel – Pewamo; daughter-in-law, Marie Bengel – Williamston; 12 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; sisters, Gladys Stiffler – Portland and Kay Sillman – Fowler; brothers, Pat Trierweiler – Portland, Roger (Sandy) Trierweiler – Portland, Charlie Trierweiler – Pewamo, and Vic (Donna) Trierweiler – Traverse City; and brother-in-law, Harv (Diana) Burgoyne – Fenwick.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. Eric Weber at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, August 11, 2021 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Westphalia. Rite of Committal will follow at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 2-8 p.m. with a rosary being prayed at 1:30 p.m. at the St. Mary’s Funeral Chapel, 210 N. Westphalia Street, Westphalia.
