Obituary for Mark Alan Bankus, Sr.

Mark Alan Bankus Sr., of Portland, MI passed away on December 19, 2021. He was born in Berwick, PA on September 30, 1946. His parents were the late Richard W. Bankus and Annetta J. Remely Bankus of Berwick, Pennsylvania. He proudly served in the United States Army for 24 years 6 months and loved his country and was a member of the Portland VFW Post #4090. He enjoyed fixing old classic cars, fishing, playing games, spending time with his family, and his dogs, Koa and Appolo. He was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by son, Mark (Tammy) Bankus Jr. of Fairfax, VA, daughter, Deanna (Troy) Mitchell of Portland, MI, brother, Warren (Jennie) Bankus of Palm Harbor, Florida, sister, Daisie McCylment of Berwick, PA, brother, Walt (Terry) Bankus of Berwick, PA, brother, Kerry (Bobbie) Bankus of Berwick, PA, brother, Art Bankus of Newmanstown, PA, sister, Anna Mary (Roger) Raup of Danville, PA, sister, Sandie Walls of Berwick, PA, sister, Margaret Baucher of Nescopeck, PA, and sister, Nancy Peters of Berwick, PA; grandchildren, Melissa Bankus, Nathan Bankus, Erika McLaughlin, Micayla McLaughlin, Kade McClain, and Joslynn Mitchell, his ex-wife and friend, Debra St. Amour, and many uncles, aunts, nieces and nephews. The Funeral Service will be conducted by Rev. Dr. Marilyn V. Danielson at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, December 22, 2021 at the Lehman Funeral Home, 210 E. Bridge Street, Portland. Interment will be in Portland Cemetery. Military honors will be provided by the V.F.W. Post #4090. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the service at the funeral chapel.
