Obituary for Lawrence B. Fandel
Lawrence B. Fandel, age 72, of Portland, Michigan, passed away on August 26, 2023. Lawrence was born on May 18, 1951, in Lansing, Michigan. He was the son of Bud and Bernadette Fandel. He is survived by his wife, Noreen Fandel of 53 years; his sister, Sheri Fandel; his brothers, Jim Fandel and Robert (Roxanne) Fandel. He is survived by his sons, Tim (Lyndsey) Fandel, Mike (Linna) Fandel, Chris Fandel (deceased), Scott Fandel, Nick Fandel, and Justin Fandel; his daughters. Theresa (Eric) Spitzley, Carrie Fandel, Christy Fandel, Amy (Adam) Most, and Jennifer (Nick) Lowe; his grandchildren: Alexa Hansen, Kenadie Hansen, Ella Wagner, Marley Most, Brady Most, Landon Hobbs, Nolan Lowe, Ophelia Fandel, Wyatt Fandel, Raelyn Fandel, Carlene Fandel, Cody Burhans, David Burhans, Alyssa Fandel, Kane Fandel, Dominic Fandel, Cheyenne Fandel, Christopher Fandel, Michael Fandel, Ashley (Brenden) Dayton, Noah Spitzley, Nicole (Timothy) Nida; several nieces and nephews. Lawrence was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corp serving the during the Vietnam War. In his spare time, he enjoyed many activities like hunting, fishing, gardening, canning pickles, and especially watching old western movies. He will be remembered for the love and support he gave to his family and friends. He especially loved all of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He will be missed and loved by all who knew him.
The Mass of Christian will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, September 2, 2023 at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Portland with Rev. Darrel Kempf presiding. Rite of Committal will follow at Portland Cemetery with military honors provided by the V.F.W. Post #4090 and the U.S. Marine Corp. The family will receive friends on Thursday and Friday from 4-8 p.m. at the Lehman Funeral Home, 210 E. Bridge Street, Portland. Online condolences may be made at www.lehmanfuneralhomes.com.
