Obituary for June Helen Thelen

June Helen Thelen, age 80, born on August 6, 1945, in Pewamo to Clement and Mary Ann Thelen and passed away on January 30, 2026.

June is survived by her husband, Larry Thelen. June and Larry were married on May 22, 1965, and made their home in Westphalia. They treasured 60 years together filled with family time, new adventures, and simple joys—especially sharing morning coffee together. June was a loving and devoted wife who provided constant and dedicated care to Larry during his recent illness.

June was a loving and supportive mother, survived and treasured by her three children: Kevin Thelen; Craig (Wendy) Thelen; and Gwenda (Clay) Summers. She loved making new memories with her eight grandchildren: Kyle (Alexandra) Thelen, Kendra (Bryce) Chandler, Kirk Thelen; Molly and Lily Thelen; Allison, Griffin and Colton Summers. She was also blessed with five great-grandchildren: Beckett, Piper, and Roman Thelen; and River and Silas Chandler.

June is also survived by her siblings: Bruce (Katie) Thelen, Karen Swanson, Vern Thelen, Mike (Linda) Thelen, Ann Gross (Glen Bierschbach), and Louis Thelen; sisters-in-law, Marilyn Halfmann and Diane Mussell; and brother-in-law, Roy Thelen.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Clement and Mary Ann Thelen; her brother, Lloyd Thelen; and several brothers- and sisters-in-law.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Fr. Eric Weber at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, February 4, 2026 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Westphalia. Rite of Committal will follow at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 4-8 p.m. at the St. Mary's Funeral Chapel, 210 N. Westphalia Street, Westphalia. The rosary will be prayed on Tuesday at 3:30 p.m. at the funeral chapel. Those wishing may make memorial contributions to Hospice House of Mid-Michigan in honor of June.
