Laynie Meredith, a sophomore on the St. Patrick School cross country team has been selected as the Portland Beacon and J-Dubb’s Signature Subs Student-Athlete of the month for October 2021.

In his nomination of Meredith, Shamrock head coach Dan Lawless told the Beacon, “Laynie has worked hard at practices all year, she is a leader on the team, always encouraging her teammates. Laynie struggled through a foot injury causing her to have less than expected results in one meet. Laynie was not deterred by this and pushed through to finish the season strong.”

Meredith’s accomplishments for October include:

10/5/21 the second of 3 CMAC meets, Laynie finished in 8th place

10/10/21 Apples to Apples Invitational, Laynie finished in 6th place, 3 seconds from the school record.

10/14/21 Saranac Color Run, Laynie finished in 9th place.

10/20/21 the third CMAC meet, Laynie finished in 7th place, earning first team all-league honors and breaking her own school record by 36 seconds, 20:36.

10/29/21 Laynie placed 5th at the regional meet earning the right to run at States for the second year in a row.
