Lady Raiders clinch share of CAAC White title, Win District

The Raiders swept Charlotte on the road on Tuesday, May 27th, and clinched a share of the CAAC White Championship.
Game 1: Portland 20, Charlotte 0
The Raiders combined for 20 runs on 16 hits in the game. Lilly Thelen led the offense with three hits including a triple. Bella Spitzley, Bailee Fish, Autumn Reffitt, Rylee Miller and Veda Smith each had two hits in the game.
Spitzley got the win in the circle striking out four over three innings.
Game 2: Portland 10, Charlotte 0
Spitzley struck out five over five innings while allowing only two hits in game two of the night.
Claire Lyon and Thelen (double) each had two hits. Anastasia Seidelman added a double
On Saturday, May 31st, the Raiders traveled to Ionia for districts.
Game 1: Portland 4, Ionia 0
Spitzley led the Raider offense with two doubles and two RBIs. Fish, Thelen, Reffitt and Smith also had hits in the game.
Spitzley got the win pitching. She struck out four and held Ionia to five hits in the game
Game 2: Portland 5, Lakewood 4
The Raiders won the district title in dramatic fashion in the finals. The game was tied at four each in the bottom of the seventh. A single by Miller scored the winning run and secured a 5-4 walk off for Portland.
Miller would finish the game with three hits and four RBIs. Molli Miilu and Spitzley each added two hits for Portland.
Spitzley pitched the complete game and struck out five in the win.
After districts, Portland Coach Brandee Novara said, “What an incredible finish! These girls never gave up—right down to the last pitch. They kept digging deep, stayed locked in, and did exactly what was needed to bring home the district championship. Their heart, grit, and determination showed tonight. So proud of this team!”
The Raiders will travel to Waverly on Saturday, June 7th, to face Williamston at 10:00 in the regional semifinals. Williamston defeated Waverly 3-1 and St. Johns 7-1 in their district.
