Lady Raiders advance to Regional Finals with win over Marshall
On Tuesday night the PHS girls basketball team traveled to Tecumseh to face Marshall (16-7 overall) in the MHSAA girls basketball regional semifinals.
The Lady Raiders strong defensive performance held an explosive Marshall offense to only 34 points, and secure a 58-34 victory to advance in post season play.
Portland senior Ashley Bower led all scorers with 20 points. Bower also had two steals and four assists. Senior Ava Guilford had eight points, three assists and one steal. Senior Alivia Densmore had six points, two assists, one steal and one blocked shot. Senior Breckyn Werner had eight points and one assist. Sophmore Malia Thelen had seven points and two assists.
Marshall was led offensively by senior Sydney Feasel with 11 points.

Portland advances to the regional finals on Thursday night back in Tecumseh. They will face Chelsea (20-3 overall) who defeated Williamston 48-46 in the second game on Tuesday night. Tip off for the championship game is set for 6:00 PM on Thursday.
Portland defeated Chelsea previously on January 19th at Portland by a score of 53-36.
Thursday nights winner will advance to the state quarter final where they will face the winner of Romulus and Detroit Edison. The quarter final game is set to be played at Williamston High School at 7:00 PM on Tuesday, March 15th.
