Having any gardening problems this summer?
Want to learn best practices for growing great vegetables and flowers?
The “Digger Lady” has answers and ideas! Portland’s own Carol Todd will host “Essential Gardening,” a free seminar at First Congregational Church (421 E. Bridge St.) on Tuesday, July 22 from 6:30 to 8:00 pm.
Bring your gardening questions from creating compost to eradicating cucumber beetles, from growing trophy roses to garlic harvesting. It’s all part of the monthly “Nature Therapy” program, sponsored by Portland Parks & Recreation and First Congregational Church.
The community-outreach program is designed to inform, inspire, and connect people with Portland’s unique outdoor recreational opportunities. Nature Therapy seminars are free and open to all. While registration is not required, signing up helps us to plan future programming.

Next up: “Portland-area Fishing Hotspots” featuring Tom Huggler, outdoor writer and author of the Fish Michigan series of mapped guidebooks. Mark your calendar for August 19 from 6:30 to 8.
