Four Raider bowlers compete at Individual States
Individual Bowling States was this past weekend. Keira Moffatt and Savanah Sutton got to compete for the first time at States in the girls individual tournament. They were part of the top 56 female bowlers in division 3. Unfortunately, both girls struggled on the lanes and were unable to advance to match play. Overall, these two bowlers as well as their teammates had a tremendous season with lots to be proud of, including an undefeated league title.
On the boys side Dre Cross got to compete for the 2nd time in the individual portion of the tournament and 4th time overall including two team appearances. He finished 43rd as he struggled with pin action and ball reaction. Dre is just the third Portland Boys Bowler to make it be a multiple Individual State qualifier.
Eli Dakin had an amazing day. He bowled games of 225, 248, 244, 188, 203, and 185 to qualify 4th for Matchplay. In Matchplay he bowled games of 235 and 262 to win his first match 496 to 384. In the 2nd round he ran out of steam as he lost the 387-449. For the day Eli averaged 218. This was Eli’s first time competing in individuals and 3rd state appearance as a 2 time team qualifier.
Eli and Dre are seniors and ended their seasons on a high note. Their future is bright and we can’t wait to see what they do in the future on and off the lanes.
