For the second straight year, Coach Ariel David’s program will be represented at the MHSAA State Finals, but this season is even more special, as two Raiders earned their spots on the starting line. The boys’ team also delivered its best regional performance in recent memory, finishing 5th overall in one of the toughest Division 2 regions in the state.
Leading the way were seniors Owen Moore and Andrew Feldpausch, who placed 13th (16:37) and 14th (16:39) respectively, both qualifying for the State Finals at Michigan International Speedway.
Not far behind, freshman Aaron Martinson ran a 25-second personal best with a time of 17:48, followed by sophomore Donnie Richmond at 17:59 and freshman James Feldpausch, who clocked 18:43 for a 20-second PR to round out the Raiders’ top five scorers.
Also turning in strong performances were Aiden Espinoza, who ran a 9-second PR with a 20:13, and senior Tanner McNair, who capped off his career with a 20:27, a season best. Tanner’s commitment and toughness, balancing both soccer and cross-country, exemplify Raider pride and determination.
Congratulations to Andrew Feldpausch and Owen Moore, who will represent Portland at the MHSAA Division 2 Finals at Michigan International Speedway on Saturday, November 1. Best of luck, Raiders!
