Featured Business: Hot Shots Tavern

Mike and Carol are a husband and wife team that own and manage Hot Shots Tavern in downtown Portland.

Hot Shots Tavern features craft beer, mixed drinks, and domestic beer. Mike finds running his own business to be very satisfying.

“I enjoy the people that I meet in the course of operating our tavern,” said Mike. “I like talking to new people as well as interacting with our regulars. I enjoy hearing their stories, making new friends, and maintaining our relationships with them,” he said.

Mike appreciates his business partnership with his wife, Carol.

“Carol and I work well together,” he said. “It is easy to make decisions with her. She has a great personality and she has a smile for everyone. We get along well,” he said.

Mike appreciates the small business environment in Portland.

“One of the biggest things that impress my wife and me is the cooperation and assistance that we receive from other business owners in the community. They give of their time and talent. Several years ago when the flood hit town, two other local tavern owners came to our place and helped us to pump water out of our basement. We were delighted to receive such assistance. One can only find such things as this in a town like Portland. It’s a good reason to do business here,” he said.

Mike and Carol look forward to running Hot Shots Tavern well into the future.

“It’s the people that we meet in the course of running our business that make it worthwhile,” said Mike.
