Have you ever wondered what kinds of wild birds call Portland home? Or which species pass through our area during migration?
Join us for Birding Opportunities Along Portland’s Walking Trails and River Corridors, a free informational seminar on Tuesday, April 22, at 6:00 PM at First Congregational Church (421 E. Bridge St.). Our guest speaker, Aaron Kortenhoven, an MSU Extension specialist with the Michigan Natural Features Inventory, will share fascinating insights about local bird species, migration patterns, and the best spots to enjoy birdwatching in Portland.
This event marks the launch of Nature Therapy, a new monthly community-outreach program co-sponsored by First Congregational Church and Portland Parks & Recreation. Designed to inform, inspire, and connect people with Portland’s unique outdoor recreational opportunities, Nature Therapy events are free and open to all. While registration is not required, signing up will help us better plan future programming.

Stay tuned for more events through 2025!
