The PFCU athlete of the month award at Portland High School goes to the student who is just that each and every month of the school year, – that is, assuming he or she is in good academic and behavioral standing, this award goes to the individual each month who was consistently that month’s best athlete and led their team to success.
Monthly winners receive a plaque at awards night and are entered into a drawing for a $500 scholarship from PFCU.
Senior wrestler Brad Meyers has been named the January Athlete of the Month.
The numbers may be a bit outdated, but as of January 7th, varsity coach Andy Pulling said, “Brad is a senior captain on the Boys Raider Wrestling Team with a 3.69 GPA and over 131 career wins. This season, Brad has a 21-0 record with 12 pins and 5 technical falls (winning by 15+ points). Brad is currently ranked #3 in Division 2 at 190 lbs with multiple wins over other state-ranked wrestlers. In addition to his exemplary academic and athletic performance, he was a lead volunteer at the Portland Holidayfest, donating his time and talents from start to finish.”
Prior winners for the 2025-2026 school year include:
September: Kayden Dickerson
October: Allie Sutberry
November: Owen Moore and Andrew Feldpausch
December: Lilly Thelen
Congratulations to the PHS athletes.
