Obituary for Mary Julia Beard

Mary Julia Beard, age 82, of Portland, passed away Wednesday, September 23, 2020. She was born on October 23, 1937, the daughter of Robert and Ruth (LaSalle) Beard. Mary was a life-long, devoted member of the First Baptist Church in Portland and she worked for Michigan Millers Insurance for many years. Mary enjoyed spending summers at her Aunt Betty’s in Illinois. Mary also spent her summers in Ashtabula, Ohio reading romance novels. She was most proud of her title, “Aunt Mary” and she loved the time she spent with her family.

Preceding Mary in death are her parents, Robert Beard and Ruth Beard; sister, Barb Smith; half-brother, Robert Beard; and half-sister, Diana Hill. She is survived by her sister, Faith (Roy) Kissane; brother-in-law, Ron Smith; and several, special nieces and nephews.

The Funeral Service will be conducted by Pastor Gary Coleman at 11:00 a.m., Monday, September 28, 2020 at the Lehman Funeral Home, 210 E. Bridge Street, Portland. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the chapel. Interment will follow in Portland Cemetery. Arrangements are entrusted to Lehman Funeral Homes.
