Shamrocks lose to Saranac

On Wednesday, February 5th the Portland St. Patrick Shamrocks visited Saranac to take on the win less Redskins. A hot shooting night from Saranac left St. Patrick reeling in a 47-39 loss.

In the first quarter, Saranac went 4 for 5 from three point land, and ended up with a 17-12 advantage after one quarter. Connor Cross led the Shamrocks with 6 points.

The second quarter saw the Shamrocks stifle the Redskins, holding them to only one free throw. The Shamrocks took a 21-18 advantage going into halftime. Tyler Coyne led the Shamrocks with 5 points, and Connor Cross chipped in 4.

The Redskins shots started falling again in the third quarter, with Saranac gaining a 17-7 advantage in the third quarter and taking a 35-28 lead going into the final quarter. John Schneider, Ryan Lay and Evan Schrauben all scored for the Shamrocks.

St. Patrick fought hard in the fourth quarter, but couldn't overcome the deficit, losing the quarter 12-11. Tyler Coyne led the Shamrocks with 7 points.

Offensive leaders for the Shamrocks were Tyler Coyne with 16 points, and Connor Cross with 12 points and 11 Rebounds. Ryan Lay also had 3 points and 16 rebounds.

St. Patrick travels to Dansville on Friday, February 7th.
