Bower Scores 29 to Lead Lady Raiders over Lansing Catholic

The Portland High School girls basketball team traveled to CAAC rival Lansing Catholic on Friday night to face the Cougars.

The close first half ended with the Raiders leading by just one point, but the Lady Raiders were able to open things up in the second half to pick up a 44-38 road victory.

Portland sophomore Ashley Bower lead all scorers with 29 points. Breckyn Werner added six points for the Raiders. Ava Guilford scored four points. Alivia Densmore and Josie Goodman each contributed two points while Ava Gruber added one point.

The Cougars were led by Reid with 11 points and Jacobs with 10 points. With the loss, the Cougars fall to 1-2 in conference and 5-3 overall.

The Lady Raiders improve to 3-0 in the CAAC White, and 7-1 overall. They are currently tied with Eaton Rapids at the top of the division. Their next contest is on Tuesday night when they host Haslett. They will also host Eaton Rapids on Friday.
