Ionia County Seeking Applicants for County Clerk


Ionia County recently announced it has opened a search for a new County Clerk.

According to a post on the Ionia County Courthouse Facebook page, “Judge Suzanne Kreeger and Judge Ronald Schafer of the 8th Judicial Circuit will be accepting applications through December 9, 2019 for the appointment of Ionia County Clerk.”

The post went on to say, “The position of County Clerk is created by State Constitution and oversees all county elections including school elections and must ensure compliance with state and federal election laws. The Clerk is also responsible for managing all vital records in the County and maintains all Circuit Court files. The Clerk is also the Clerk of the County Board of Commissioners and statutorily serves on numerous boards and commissions. This is a position that requires successful reelection. Salary is $58,219.20 and is subject to cost of living increases by the County.”

“Interested applicants should send a letter of interest, resume and completed County application to the attention of Judge Kreeger and Judge Schafer, 8th Circuit Court located at 100 Main Street, Ionia County, MI 48846.”

The Ionia Sentinel-Standard has reported that current county clerk Janae K. Cooper will be the new city clerk for the City of Belding effective January 2nd.
