Shamrock Football State Championship Preview


The Shamrocks travel to Marquette this Saturday, November 23rd for the 13th and final game of the football season, meeting Pickford in the 8-man State Championship. Pickford comes in with a 11-1 record, with its only loss coming in an early season 20-14 loss to Powers North Central. Pickford has a high scoring offense, lead by Quarterback Jimmy Storey the Panthers have averaged 49 points a game, while their defense has only allowed 15 points a game and has chalked up 2 shutouts. The Panther offense relies heavily on the run- averaging 346 yards rushing per game, but can also move the ball well in the air- averaging 113 yards per game in the air-, with QB Storey going 77 for 121 for 1400 yards, 19 touchdowns and 6 interceptions. Storey is also the Panthers leading rusher, carrying the ball 224 times for 1809 yards (8.1 per carry) and 24 touchdowns. The Panthers offensive line is very large, and stacked with Seniors, anchored in the middle with Senior Center Blaine Burnaby (#52, 6" 245lbs), Guard Isaiah May (#55, 6' 1" 220lbs) and Junior Guard Eric Huyck (#54, 6' 230lbs). Defensively, Pickford is lead by Senior DE Isaiah May (#55, 6' 1" 220lbs), who leads the way with 80 tackles, Senior DB Isaiah Brown (#22, 5' 8" 160lbs) has 60 tackles, Junior LB Micah Bailey (#21, 6' 2" 205lbs) has 54 tackles. The Shamrocks have averaged 52 points per game, while allowing under 10 points per game. The Shamrocks will be leaving for Marquette on Friday morning at around 9:00 am.
