On Saturday, November 9th, the Shamrocks hosted the Warriors of Kinde North Huron for the Regional final game. Despite being a hard-fought game, the Shamrocks dominated the Warriors with a final score of 51-14.
In the first quarter, the Shamrocks struggled a little bit with the rushing game, with the Warriors bring an 8 man rush to attempt to stop Shamrocks senior running back Ned Smith. This left other people open, and the Shamrocks made them pay in the air, with quarterback Connor Cross connecting with seniors Zach Spitzley and Tyler Coyne on two touchdown passes, leaving the score 14-0 after one quarter of play.
In the second quarter, the Warriors had to back off on their rush, which allowed a more balanced attack from the Shamrock offense. The Warriors struck first, on a broken play leading to a score, but St. Patrick's answered right away, on a 49-yard touchdown pass to Zach Spitzley. Derec Fedewa then scored on a 15 yard rush, and Ned Smith pounded another score in from 3 yards leaving the score 32-6 at halftime.
Opening up the third quarter, the Shamrocks put another on the board quickly, when Zach Spitzley caught another 25 yard touchdown, and then again when Zach Spitzley caught a 1 yard touchdown. The Shamrock defense stifled the Warriors, leaving the score 45-6 after three quarters.
Both teams traded scores in the fourth quarter, with Derec Fedewa busting a 54 yard touchdown late, leaving the score 51-14.
Offensive leaders were Zach Spitzley with 7 receptions for 220 yards and 4 touchdowns, Connor Cross went 9 for 17 for 274 yards and 5 touchdowns. Derec Fedewa had 12 carries for 89 yards and 2 touchdowns.
Defensive leaders were Alex Kissane with 15 tackles, Ned Smith with 12 tackles, and Derec Fedewa with 11 tackles.
The Shamrocks will play the 9-2 Climax Scotts Panthers next Saturday, at Portland High School at 1 pm for the State Semi-finals game.
