Obituary for William Jack Beard

William Jack Beard, age 97, passed away on Monday, September 30, 2019 with family at his side. He was born on September 8, 1922, the son of Joseph and Thelma Beard. Bill is retired from General Motors, loved watching NASCAR, and racing super modifies for many years. He enjoyed spending winters in Arizona after retirement. Bill never threw anything away, having a solution on how to fix anything and his mind was sharp right up until the end. Bill is a veteran of the U.S. Navy (1940-1946), serving as a Gunner’s Mate First Class in many countries throughout the world. He is preceded in death by his wife Mavis (Bills) Beard in 2013. Surviving are Gary and Deb Beard of Portland.

The Funeral Service will be conducted by Rev. Dr. Marilyn V. Danielson at 11:00 a.m., Friday, October 4, 2019 at the Lehman Funeral Home, 210 E. Bridge St., Portland. Interment will follow at Portland Cemetery. Military graveside services will be conducted by the V.F.W. Post #4090. The family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. on Thursday, October 3, 2019 at the funeral home. The family would like to thank Joe and Lisa Shalty, the staff at Walnut Grove, and the staff at Portland Assisted Living and Memory Care for the kindness they have given to Bill.
