Obituary for Mae E. (Schrauben) Lehman
Mae Elizabeth (Schrauben) Lehman, age 96, of Portland, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 8, 2019. Mae was born on April 19, 1923 in Westphalia, the daughter of Frank and Mary (Pline) Fandel. She was a devoted member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Portland, the V.F.W. Post #4090 Ladies Auxiliary and she volunteered at the Portland Senior Center. Mae enjoyed playing cards, baking bread, walking, and playing bingo. She was a beautician for over 50 years in the Portland area. Her family was extremely important to her and she loved spending time with them, especially her grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Edwin Schrauben in 1972 and her second husband, Harold Lehman in 1998; great-granddaughter, Marissa Meyers; brothers, Christie (Helen) Fandel and Hubert Fandel; sisters, Anna Belle (Louis) Werner and Eloise (Jack) Gilbert; and her son-in-law, George McClure. Surviving are her children, Larry (Marlene) Schrauben of DeWitt, Bonnie McClure of Williamston, Fred (Diane) Schrauben of DeWitt, Herb (Eileen) Schrauben of Portland, Jean (Nick) Meyers of Portland, and Jane (Mike) Oehmen of Portland; 17 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; and sister-in-law, Helen Kavanaugh.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. Mike Alber at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, September 12, 2019 at St. Patrick Catholic Church. Rite of Committal will follow at Portland Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m., Wednesday at the Lehman Funeral Home, 210 E. Bridge St., Portland and one hour prior to the Mass on Thursday at the church. A rosary will be prayed at 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home on Wednesday.
