PHS Soccer Picks up 4-1 Over Lakewood
The Portland Girls Varsity Soccer team took to the field on Tuesday for their second game of the season and their home opener against local rival Lakewood. The Raiders were able to score early in the second half off a free kick by Mariah Fedewa. The momentum of the game stalled for the rest of the rest half as the Raiders struggled to find the back of the net. Opening the second half the Raiders were able to find the net putting them up 2-0. Lakewood continued to press and was able to score off a one on one run to goal putting the score at a close 2-1. The game stayed close up until the last 15 minutes as the ladies continued to put pressure on the Viking defense move the ball behind the defense scoring two more goals to end the game with a 4-1 win Goals were scored by Ashlie Bower (2 goals), Mariah Fedewa and Alayna Goodman. The Raider Varsity and JV teams will travel to Battle Creek Penfield Thursday for games at 5 pm and 6:30 pm.
