Shamrock & Raider Cross-Country Teams Compete at Championship Meet


The Portland St. Patrick Women’s and The Portland Raider Men’s Cross-Country Teams placed among the 40 teams that competed Saturday at the Greater Lansing Cross Country Championship Meet, held at the Ledge Meadows Golf Course in Grand Ledge.

The Women’s team champion was DeWitt and the Men’s team champion was Corunna. The Individual Champion for Women was Junior Jaden Theis of Lansing Catholic who finished with a time of 17 minutes, 39 seconds for the 5K Course. Sr. Ben Jacobs from Corunna placed first in the Men’s Division with a time of 15 minutes, 50 seconds.

Senior Blaine Rosier of Portland was the first Raider to finish in the Men’s Division with a time of 19:12. Sr. Jake Pung led the St. Patrick’s Men’s team, which did not post a team score for the event, with a time of 20:31. Junior Ari Babcock led all Portland Women with a time of 23:45. The Raider Women’s team also did not post a team score for the meet. Senior Cordelia FoxElster led the St. Patrick’s Women’s team with a time of 25:16.

The Shamrocks return to action on Wednesday at Uncle John’s Cider Mill in St. Johns for a CMAC Jamboree and the Raiders will travel to Lansing Sexton, on Thursday, for a CAAC White Meet.
