Shamrocks get routed by Colon
The Magi started out quickly, by marching down the field and scoring on a 13-yard run on the first drive. The Shamrocks stopped the 2-point conversion. The Shamrocks then mounted a good drive but could not make the big catches that were open. The Magi again marched right down the field on the next drive and scored again, again missing the extra point, leaving the score 12-0 after the first quarter.
The 2nd quarter was more of the same, with the Magi scoring on two long drives, making one extra point, and the Shamrocks unable to come up with big plays, leaving the score 26-0 at halftime.
In the 3rd quarter, Colon again scored twice, this time ta
king to the air for a 35-yard touchdown pass, and a 15-yard run, completing a two-point conversion and a kick to leave the final score 41-0.
With a running clock after a 40-point lead, the 4th quarter went fast with neither team able to score.
Coach Patrick Russman was happy with his team’s effort, though not the outcome. “We had some opportunities on offense that we didn’t capitalize on, and Colon is an exceptional football team that is well coached and talented.”
Offensive leader for the Shamrocks was Ned Smith, who had 22 rushes for 80 yards against a very strong defensive unit. John Schneider also had 4 catches for 16 yards.
Defensive leaders were Alex Kissane with 14 tackles and 1 tackle for loss, Bret Weller with 12 tackles, John Schneider with 7 tackles, and Riley Kissane with 7 tackles.
The Shamrocks are travelling to Tekonsha to play the 5-2 Indians this Friday, October 12th at 7 pm.
