New Portland Middle School Leadership Announced

Portland Middle School will have a new leadership team in place moving into the 2018-2019 school year. Principal Kevin Robydek is leaving PMS and will be the new Superintendent of Potterville Public Schools. Current Dean of Students and acting Principal at Oakwood Elementary, Leanna Davis, will be taking over as Principal at PMS effective July 1st.

Superintendent Will Heath said of Robydek, “We wish him the best in this next step of his professional journey. We also know that he will always be a Raider at heart.”

Heath added, “With Mrs. Davis moving into the principal position it leaves the Dean of Students position open. Patrick O'Rourke, current MS Math teacher, will take over for Mrs. Davis. I am confident that this is a dedicated leadership team that will continue the success that we have had at the Middle School.”

In a brief introduction sent to parents, Davis said, “Over the past two years, I have had the privilege to work with the students, parents, and staff of Portland Middle School as the Dean of Students. I am very fortunate to continue my career in the role of Principal at Portland MS. I am excited for this opportunity to continue building relationships with our middle school community and bringing Raider Pride to our school.”

Davis also said, “A little bit about me- I was born and raised in Portland. I graduated from Portland High School in 2007 and went on to earn my Bachelor of Arts in Education degree from the University of Michigan. I then earned my Masters of Public Administration with a specialization in Educational Administration from the University of Michigan in 2015. My husband and I have two young children that keep us very busy, and entertained! I have had the privilege of working in the Portland School District as a teacher and administrator and look forward to my own children attending Portland schools."

As she moves into her new position, Davis said, "Looking ahead to my role as Principal of Portland Middle School, my goal is to continue to build the strong, positive culture that is in place. We will work to improve our curriculum and settings for our students on a daily basis as well. Please feel free to contact me questions or concerns. I look forward to continuing to build a strong foundation for the students, parents, and staff of Portland Middle School.”

O’Rourke said, “… I currently reside in Fowler, with my wife Kelly and son Grayson. I am a graduate of Central Michigan University, with a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education and more recently a Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership. I have been privileged enough to serve the Portland Community for the last three years as a Middle School Math Teacher.”

On his new position, he said, “I am very excited to now serve the district as the Middle School Dean of Students. I am extremely privileged to begin a new position in such an amazing and supportive community. This new opportunity will allow me a chance to connect with more students, families, and staff on a daily basis. I look forward strengthening connections with the Raider community and continuing to build Raider P.R.I.D.E.”
