Obituary for Ronald Deane Walkington

Ronald Deane Walkington, age 72, of Vermontville, passed away Saturday, February 10, 2018. He was born on March 27, 1945 in Lake Odessa, the son of Ora J. and Verl I. (Sage) Walkington. He was a graduate of Portland High School Class of 1963 and was an avid sports fan, he especially liked the MSU Spartans. Ron excelled at NuTech as a District Representative and was a life-long farmer.

Preceding Ron in death are his parents; brothers Loren A. Walkington and Bruce E. Walkington; sister-in-law, Vivian (Stout) Walkington; brother-in-law, Edwin Leak; nephew, Lewis Walkington; and great-nephew, Curtis Schmitt. He is survived by his siblings, Bonnie (Walkington) Leak, Gordon (Jane) Walkington, and Rosalyn (Jim) (Walkington) Johnson; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews; and special friends, Ron Ferris, Gordon Galloway, Terry Weiland, Keith Ferris and Doug Rogers.

The Funeral Service will be officiated by Senior Pastor Phil Mills and Rev. Justin Ringstaff at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, February 14, 2018 at the Lansing Seventh Day Adventist Church, 5400 W. St. Joseph Highway, Lansing, MI 48917. Interment will follow the luncheon at Lakeside Cemetery in Lake Odessa, MI. The family will receive friends 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday at the Lehman Funeral Home, 210 E. Bridge Street, Portland. Memorial contributions may be made to Lansing Seventh Day Adventist Church.
