On October 17th, Westwood Elementary School joined thousands of students and staff across Michigan in celebrating the Michigan Apple Crunch. This annual event, organized by MSU Extension and the Michigan Farm to Institution Network, promotes National Farm to School Month and highlights the importance of Michigan apples.

On Crunch Day, over 450 students and staff at Westwood eagerly bit into fresh, locally sourced apples. The event encourages schools and organizations to support local farmers and promote healthy eating among students.

The Michigan Apple Crunch has become a popular way for communities to come together and enjoy local foods. Many schools reported a lot of excitement this year, with students enthusiastic about the apples they crunched.

As the crunch echoed through the Westwood Elementary playground, the event reminded everyone of the importance of local food and healthy eating. The Michigan Apple Crunch continues to inspire students and communities to appreciate fresh produce and support local agriculture.
