Vietnam Veterans Commemorative Event 2023
Vietnam Veterans were honored and pinned at a Vietnam Veterans Commemoration Ceremony at Vietnam Memorial Park in Lansing, Michigan on April 11, 2023. The event was organized by the Pvt. Ephraim Wheaton Chapter, Sons of the American Revolution (SAR) in partnership with the Lansing Chapter of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution (NSDAR).
Senator Ed McBroom of District 38 was the keynote speaker and led the National Anthem. Kelly VanWormer, State Regent for Michigan Daughters of the American Revolution and Joe Williams, Vice President of the Michigan Sons of the American Revolution also participated in the ceremony. Presentation of the Colors was led by International Vice President General Ken Goodson, National Color Guard Adjutant of the Sons of the American Revolution, joined by Boy Scout Troop 111 of Lansing, Michigan.
The Enduring Warrior Award was presented to Ross Baker. Mr. Baker entered the Army in 1970 and served as a medic during the Vietnam era at Walter Reed Hospital. His experience as a medic led him to pursue a career in nursing in the Lansing area. The event was well attended with family and friends of the veterans present.
Any living service member who served on active duty from November 1, 1955, to May 15, 1975, regardless of location, are eligible to be pinned. Surviving spouses are also eligible to be pinned. This pin is a lasting memento symbolizing the Nation’s gratitude and appreciation for those veterans who served in the Vietnam era.
