Randy and Michelle Hodge invite you to discover the Hodge Lodge Inn, a beautiful and historical farmhouse that they have converted into a four-room bed and breakfast inn that’s fit for any traveler.
Upon entering the lodge, one is met with cozy fireplace, a large screen television, and an expansive mural of the Portland Dam which was painted by Lelah Munson, a former owner of the home. Munson was a well-known local artist who passed in 1978.
The inn is remarkable.
“We’re very proud of our bed and breakfast inn,” said Randy. “It features beautiful rooms situated in an attractive country setting.”
Michelle agreed. “We’ve put a lot of work into the inn,” she said. “We’ve added modern amenities to an historical building. It’s warm and welcoming.”
The rooms themselves have been decorated with theme-based details. Two of the rooms have been dedicated to former owners, including the Munsons, with Lelah’s paintings throughout the home.
“We thank the Portland Historical Society for many of the paintings,” said Michelle. “They have been very kind to lend them to us.”
Each bedroom has its own full bath, newly remodeled. A help-yourself homemade breakfast prepared by Michelle comes with rental of a room. Staying at the lodge is a bargain, with accommodations costing only $75 a night.
“We want to keep the cost of a stay to be as reasonably-priced as possible,” said Randy. “We want to provide something special and affordable to people visiting Portland and other nearby communities who return for weddings, funerals, graduation parties, and the like.”
The Hodges offer guests a friendly atmosphere.
“We really enjoy getting to know the people who stay here,” said Michelle. “People have visited us from more than twenty different states of the union. We’ve even accommodated a couple from Italy who came here to visit their daughter, who was living in Portland as an exchange student.”
The Hodge Lodge Inn is located on the corner of David Highway and Lyons Road in an area that was once known as the village of Collins.
“In the nineteenth century Collins served as a stagecoach stop,” said Randy. “It later served as a railroad stop for the surrounding area.”
Michelle considers the area to be a great location.
“We’re near Portland, Westphalia, Pewamo, Lyons, and Ionia,” she said. “We are also situated between two urban areas, that of Grand Rapids and Lansing. This makes traveling to these communities from the lodge convenient and easy.”
Randy and Michelle warmly invite everyone to discover the inn and to see for themselves how special it is.
“We love it here and we think that you will, too,” said Michelle.
